After the AI Image: 5 Steps to Finish Your Generation in Canva
Generate a poster with a WorkPrompt prompt and you'll notice something: the visual is gorgeous, but small text comes out garbled, dates and prices can't be edited, and the size rarely matches print or platform specs. That's not a prompt problem — image models are inherently bad at precise text. The right workflow: AI does the hero visual, Canva does the words and the output. Five steps, ten minutes.
Step 1: Generate with finishing in mind
Every visual prompt on WorkPrompt includes a clean-space instruction — like 'keep the lower third clean for overlay text'. Don't delete that line: it exists so you can add real text in Canva.
Run the prompt 2–3 times, keep the best composition, download at maximum resolution.
Step 2: Open the right canvas size in Canva
Print posters: A4/A3 (add bleed at export). Instagram posts: 1080×1080. Stories and flyers: 1080×1920 portrait. Set the size first, then place the image — no stretching later.
Drag your AI image in as the background. If the clean zone isn't where you need it, crop and reposition until it sits under your text area.
Step 3: Cover AI gibberish with real text
If the generation has wonky small text, cover it with a color block matching the background, then layer Canva text on top.
Lazy font pairing that always works: bold serif or heavy sans for headlines, light sans for body, never more than two typefaces per design.
Step 4: Add your brand elements
Logo, brand colors, contact info. Canva's Brand Kit stores your palette and fonts so every future design applies them in one click — that's how an account starts looking consistent.
Don't forget a QR code — Canva generates them natively; link to your booking page or menu.
Step 5: Export the right spec for the job
Print: PDF Print option with bleed and crop marks — the print shop won't bounce it back.
Social ads: PNG at highest quality; switch to JPG 90% if the file is too heavy.
One hero visual can be resized in a click (Canva Resize) into the poster, story and cover versions all at once.
