What does it mean when your boss says "Can you stay until we find a replacement?"?

Please extend your notice indefinitely, until we get around to hiring.

"Until we find someone" has no deadline. Your new job does.

I know handover matters. My last day stays as planned, and before then I'll finish handover docs and can help interview my replacement.
